Academy for creative concepting

Spatial Visualisation & Experience

In this module, you’ll learn not only how to translate your ideas into visual concepts, but also how to communicate them convincingly. You’ll start by developing a strong narrative and transforming that story into a visual experience that brings the space to life. Guided by experts, you'll discover how to use historical and contextual research to build a concept with real meaning.

You'll explore how to combine aesthetic elements such as color, texture, form, materials, furniture, and lighting to create a powerful and cohesive space. From there, you'll dive into visual materials to find your own direction. How do you translate your concept into concrete visual choices? What do you want to communicate through the space, and how do you bring that to life? We’ll teach you how to first sketch out exactly what you’re looking for — in every detail of the space. Then, you’ll get to work using both physical and digital tools to find the right imagery.

Throughout the module, you'll be introduced to tools for creating your own unique mood images using AI. This helps generate new, inspiring ideas and further refine your designs. You’ll learn not just how to create beautiful visuals, but how to edit and enhance them to fully express your concept.

Finally, we’ll translate your overall concept into a dynamic 3D visualization, applying advanced techniques. The focus will be on using light, shadow, contrast, and depth to convincingly visualize your space.

This module is ideal for creative professionals who want to design and present spaces in an innovative and inspiring way.

All visuals were created by Artemis students.

Theme 1

Research into the history and context of a space

In week 1, you'll dive into a fictional assignment exploring the history and context of the client. Through research, you'll lay the foundation for a well-grounded concept. Based on this research, you'll develop a narrative or storyline—a cohesive story that gives meaning to the subject.

Mood Generation with AI

In week 3, the focus is on further developing the collected images. When specific visual elements cannot be found physically or online, you’ll learn how to use AI to create your own mood images. This technique opens up new possibilities to generate distinctive and inspiring ideas based on the concept, which can then be integrated into the design.

Theme 4

Visualizing the conceptual story

The focus is on translating the conceptual story into a convincing and visually strong presentation. You’ll explore how to build a narrative logically and how to convey it effectively in a visual presentation. Digital moodboards will be created, covering both content and technical execution. All collected aesthetic elements — from materials and colors to shapes and textures — are integrated into a cohesive presentation that powerfully communicates the core of the concept.

Visualization to Experience: Fine-tuning and Dynamics

This week focuses on refining and bringing the spatial experience to life. Under expert guidance, the digital visualization is further developed using Photoshop and, where applicable, AI, optimizing light, texture, and detail for the most powerful presentation possible. In the next step, the space gains dynamics through the use of moving images, making the concept even more compelling and adding an extra layer to the experience.
